Growing up, my father was a career military officer. My family moved all over the United States, and spent 2.5 years in Germany. After my father retired in 1975, Copperas Cove, TX became "home" for me. I began my career with a major retailer  in 1985. I moved from Palestine, TX to New Braunfels, TX and from there to Sutherland, VA. In 1996, I moved to Menomonie, WI.

In March of 1997, my father was diagnosed with lung cancer. He passed away one month later. Because of this, I decided to make some major changes in my life. I can honestly say that my personal health was not always a priority in my life. It took me over 3 years to quit smoking (I was a smoker for 21 years). This was a significant positive step for me. I began walking my dog, Hawkeye, every day to battle the weight gain. It was an encouraging workout program. Once my weight loss results leveled off, I realized that I would have to do something different to continue achieving the great results.

I began working out at an athletic club in 2002. I hired a personal trainer – which I figured out cost only $4.50 more a week than my smoking habit had cost me. With the encouragement of the trainer, I began to see immediate results: weight loss, fitting into smaller clothes, healthier eating habits, healthier skin, better sleep patterns, and an overall more positive outlook on my life. The list of positive effects kept getting longer, and seemed endless. The club provided a comfortable, friendly atmosphere to work out in. I met many people with similar goals, and found they were seeing the same great results.

In 2003, I made the decision to make Menomonie my home permanently. I purchased the athletic club, with the vision of helping people achieve the results I personally experienced. On March 1st, 2003 BodyWorks Athletic Club was established. I maintained my full time career while owning/operating BodyWorks. After 22 years, I retired from my career in November 2007,  focusing all of my time to BodyWorks Athletic Club. Reaching out to give other people the aspiration to experience the healthy lifestyle changes I’ve developed. In the fall of 2007, Bodyworks broke ground at our new facility, 3019 Schneider Ave. East, Suite D, Menomonie, WI.
